Serpstat's primary feature is its keyword research tool that can be used for your SEO & PPC search campaigns. Below, we will examine how you can utilize this tool to find high-volume organic and paid keywords to gain an edge on your competition.

1)SEO Keyword Research

Serpstat can be used to identify high-value keywords for SEO campaigns. This tool can be used to come up with new ideas for content and to improve the effectiveness of existing content. While this tool includes all the basic features, it's not quite as powerful as Ahrefs or SEMrush.

To find keywords using Serpstat, enter a root keyword into the search bar. The application will return numerous related keywords along with their keyword difficulty and search volumes.


2)PPC Keyword Research

Serpstat's PPC keyword research tool allows users to leverage functionalities similar to the SEO keyword research tool for their paid search campaigns. Again, while Serpstat provides a wide array of data and functionality, it's not as advanced as its top competitors.

Serpstat helps users pick the best paid keywords by providing data such as search volume, estimated cost-per-click (CPC), and keyword difficulty. Additionally, Serpstat captures and displays the most recent search ads used by other companies for specific keywords.


2. Backlink Analysis

Serpstat's backlink analysis feature is valuable for understanding your website's existing backlink profile and discovering promising content ideas. Although accurate, we found that Serpstat did not discover as many backlinks as more advanced tools like Ahrefs.

The Serpstat dashboard includes basic information such as your number of backlinks, referring domains, and the percentage of backlinks that are follow & no follow. Serpstat also provides charts to visualize your referring domain count and new vs. lost backlinks over time.


With Serpstat's top pages report, you can see the pages with the most backlinks on any website. These high-performing pages are a helpful inspiration for your own backlink campaigns. It's likely the same content that generates backlinks for other companies will work for you.


3. Keyword Rank Tracking

Serpstat’s rank tracking functionality helps you measure the success of your SEO efforts. You can monitor the position of your most valuable organic search keywords and track your website's visibility relative to your competition

The biggest difference between Serpstat and its competitors is the number of keywords you can track. Serpstat allows you to track up to 15,000 keywords for $69 per month. This would cost well over $500 per month on either AccuRanker or SEMrush.

Serpstat's rank tracker shares many of the same features as other search tools. This includes a daily refresh of ranking data, the ability to monitor rankings for mobile & desktop, and the option to use geography-specific rank tracking.

At the same time, Serpstat does lack some features found in more advanced rank tracking tools. This includes a less intuitive interface, less sophisticated filtering, and absence of a featured snippet report.

4. Competitive Analysis

All the features outlined above can offer you insight into your competitor’s marketing strategies. For example, you can use Serpstat’s keyword research tools to gain an edge on your competition.

Serpstat also offers reports that specifically analyze your competitors. These reports help you discover who your competitors are, and the keywords that you compete for.

Top Organic Competitors

Serpstat's keyword research functionality showcases the top competing websites that share the most organic search terms with your website. The dashboard shows the keywords you have in common, the keywords you are missing, and a relevance score.


With the domain vs. domain feature, you can use the Venn diagram to compare your website's keywords with competing websites (up to 2). This tool can allow you to discover which keywords are shared and unique, alerting you or competitor keywords you can target.


Top Paid Search Competitors

Serpstat's competitor reports are similar to the data from the organic search reports detailed above. This tool shows you your top competitors in paid search sorted by the number of keywords you have in common.


Similar to the SEO domain vs. domain feature above, you can use this Venn diagram to find the paid keywords your competitors are bidding for. Identifying these keywords and target CPC's will allow you to make informed decisions on your own paid search campaigns.


5. Site Audit

Serpstat's site audit feature allows you to improve your search visibility by detecting and fixing technical search issues. Site auditing ensures a great user experience and improves your chance of reaching the top of search results.

The site audit report reveals technical errors that affect your ranking, such as duplicate & missing title descriptions, linking to redirected pages, and a lack of HTTPS & meta tag implementation. Additionally, Serpstat measures the loading speed of your website, and suggests possible improvements including image optimization, usage of JavaScript & CSS, and font readability.
